Most Common Issues Encountered When Preparing a Return

Issue:  Estimated tax payments not correctly supplied –

We Recommend:  Providing copies of cleared checks, vouchers, dates paid, and taxing agency paid.

Issue:  Missing documents/information to include HSA documentation and the year-end balance of accounts, 1099s including miscellaneous, interest and stocks, stock sales documents with the original purchase price not listed which could cause a taxable gain that might be an error.

We Recommend:  Making sure all documents have been received prior to turning them into our office for processing.  Review and compare prior year documents to make sure all have been received and contact the providers if they have not.
